As part of the ARTOWN 2018 Festival, Sierra Nevada Ballet will present an exciting evening of dance, song and music, DANCING BY THE RIVER, on July 10, 2018 at 8:00 PM at Wingfield Park in Reno. This event promises to be a brand new and different, versatile and innovative production continuing in the tradition of SNB’s highly acclaimed annual performances at Reno’s ARTOWN Festival.
This will be SNB’s eighteenth year performing as part of ARTOWN and each year SNB presents a new program under the title of SNB’s DANCING BY THE RIVER which has become a popular ARTOWN event. Under the artistic direction of Rosine Bena, this dance program features the fabulous singer Cami Thompson and her Trio and International Tap Star, Sam Weber. The event showcases the professional dancers in SNB and the event has established a regular following with the Reno ARTOWN audiences and always receives a standing ovation. The program features former Joffrey principal dancer, Domingo Rubio, star of the Robert Altman film, THE COMPANY and the audience favorite, SNB first principal dancer, Ananda Bena-Weber, and the company of SNB dancers with dancers from Ballet Tuscon, the Joffrey Ballet, Smuin Ballet, Sacramento Ballet and Milwaukie and Reno Break dancers with young dancers from the SNB apprentice program and students from the SNB Academy.
SNB’s ARTOWN audience has grown considerably in the past 18 years, as returning members invite more and more friends to the event.
This year’s program promises to be a crowd pleaser featuring different choreographic works by Oliver Adams, Jennifer August, Kris Swaczyna, Barbara Land, Ananda Bena-Weber, Daniel Miller and SNB Artistic Director, Rosine Bena. This eclectic program features an accent on classical ballet as well as contemporary ballet combined with music from traditional to jazz.
