Carson City Classic Cinema Club Events
This summer has been non-stop so far, showing no signs of letting up just yet! And we’re OK with that! We are thrilled to be bringing quality entertainment to our community, and to be partnered with other groups doing the same!
Here’s where you can find us for the next month or so.
-KNVC 95.1 FM – Every Tuesday at 7p. To get our feet wet, we started with a 30-minute show, but we had so much fun this week, we are already expanding to a full hour! The first half of the show is about Classic Hollywood and the last half about local arts programs/artists/projects and events. The radio station is in the process of re-vamping its website, so once that is complete, they will build us, “Studio C5”, a page of our own and archive all past shows. For now, catch us live on the radio or stream the show in real time at ####
-Farmer’s Market – We have teamed up with Jazz & Beyond to provide information regarding upcoming arts events, from a variety of partner groups and organizations. Stop by this Saturday between 8:30a-1p, & say “hi”!
-LevittAmp Summer Concert Series at the BAC – Each and every Saturday this summer, you can find someone from C5 and our Kohl’s cares volunteers, serving free popcorn, provided by generous sponsor, Jonni Moon. Tomorrow, July 20th, catch Grammy winning Terence Simien and the Zydeco Experience. Here’s the complete season lineup:
-Nevada State Museum – That’s right… we will be helping the Museum celebrate the 50th anniversary of Apollo 11 and the first moon landing on Wednesday, July 24th, by showing the 2019 documentary, Apollo 11, at 10a, 12N, and 2p. Check out the entire event here:
-Movies in the Park – Free movies, in conjunction with the Carson City Parks & Recreation Department – next up… Friday, July 26… The Goonies at Mills Park. (FYI – I am not responsible for choosing the movies sponsored by other donors 😶)
We will have a few snacks for sale (Cookies, chips, designer popcorn, etc., $1/bag), but no drinks. BYOChair / blanket
– CityWide Short Film Competition – From our partners at Wired Wednesday Digital Artists – the competition is actually over… all the submissions have been received and pre-judging is now happening. At last count there were 9 films entered. You can attend the screening of all the films submitted and cast your vote for “Audience Favorite”. Each film is under 10 minutes long; hence. the name, “Short Film Competition”. The screening/awards will be held Friday, 26 July, in our beloved BAC Performance Hall.
-1st Tuesday, regular schedule – back to our normal classic series, that you know and love… August 6… The Time Machine (1960), starring Rod Taylor & Yvette Mimieux. Two special short film spoofs of The Time Machine, from this year’s youth film camp, will be shown before the feature film. And Wired Wednesday’s mini-workshop that week is supposed to be “Editing Basics”.
And last, but far from least…
–Summer Outdoor Series at the BAC -Immediately following Wheeled Food Wednesday, the next film, West Side Story, will be shown on Wednesday, August 21, on the Minnesota Street Stage, at sunset. Again, BYOChair/blanket, enjoy the local food trucks and settle in for a film, under the stars! (These movies are free – sponsored by local realtor, Garrett Lepire.)
Whew! That’s all for now… please follow us on Facebook to keep up on all the latest.
Thank you and have a wonderful weekend!
