About Wild Horse Children’s Theater
Wild Horse Children’s Theater offers professional, high quality productions and exceptional theater education for children.
No previous training or experience is required to audition for a part in our productions.  We also have a technical theater apprentice program for young people who would rather work back-stage in our productions.
WHCT is self-supporting.  Like many nonprofit theater companies, we are not able to cover all of our production expenses with ticket sales and membership fees.  The additional money from tuition allows us to produce the high quality productions that WHCT is known for and to provide our young actors the opportunity to work with outstanding theater professionals.  Our educational school outreach program is free to schools in our community.
We realize the importance of the arts in the lives of every child.  Therefore, we are committed to our “no child turned away policy”.  Our “Kyra & Norma Conway Scholarship Program”* allows us to include any young actor who may not be able to pay tuition fees.  You can download a scholarship application here or contact us for more information.
*Kyra Conway was one of our “Stars” at WHCT. Kyra was only 11 years old when we lost her suddenly to Influenza B. We will always remember Kyra’s quirky personality and bright smile and we will continue to honor her and her legacy by providing scholarships for children who love being on the stage s much as she did.

About CCAI

ccai-logo

The Capital City Arts Initiative is an artist-centered organization.

It is committed to the encouragement and support of artists and the arts and culture of Carson City and the surrounding region. The Initiative is committed to community building for the area’s diverse adult and youth populations through art exhibitions, live events, arts education programs, artist residencies, and online projects.

STRATEGIES

CCAI provides a myriad of programs through its active community partnerships. CCAI initiatives engage area citizens in a wide-ranging civic dialogue about how the arts foster innovative community development, encourage long-term regional economic development, and provide cultural leadership. CCAI offers its programs in various public venues throughout the communities of northwestern Nevada, making the arts available to a large segment of area residents, including those who may otherwise never choose to visit an arts exhibition or program. CCAI presents the work of local, regional, and national visual arts and writers in public spaces and workplaces, sponsors public lectures on arts practice, offers arts-in-education programs and resources for all ages, and serves as a strong advocate for the arts in western Nevada. In an era of shrinking budgets for public schools and educational institutions, CCAI supplements schools’ art curricula with professional artists who conduct arts enrichment talks in area high schools and college classrooms. Through this arts-enrichment program, CCAI aims to stimulate students’ creative thinking and inspire their imaginations to help develop crucial work skills for the 21st century.

Music brings us together in celebration

Western Nevada Musical Theatre Company is where you can find the best of Broadway, right here at home. As one of the largest regional theater companies in the state of Nevada, we draw talent from several Nevada and Northern California cities. WNMTC productions are featured at the Carson City Community Center, an 800 seat proscenium theater located in the heart of the state capitol. This critically acclaimed company draws tour buses and season ticket holders from all over the states of Nevada and California, attracting as many as 7,000 people to a single production. WNMTC presents two productions a year, one in May and one in November.
