The Carson City Arts & Culture Coalition supports a vibrant cultural life for our community by promoting and advocating on behalf of the area’s artists and cultural institutions. The Coalition recognizes that a creative environment is an essential component of energetic civic life and sustained economic growth in the community.
Carson City’s arts and cultural community captures the Carson City experience. The Coalition, founded in 2001, is an informal group of Carson City artists and arts organizations that convene to support each other and advocate for arts and culture. We recognize that a creative environment is essential to an energetic, engaged, economically robust community.
The Coalition strives to strengthen the area’s arts and culture groups through funding, visibility initiatives, access to new resources, and political voice. We provide umbrella support and advocacy for arts and culture entities within our community. With this intent and a vision to secure Carson City as the region’s hub for celebrating creative and cultural experiences, the Coalition moves forward.
The Silver City Arts Group
The Silver City Arts (SCA) group hosts music, visual arts, theater and poetry events and programs. The group draws on the community’s own rich resource of artists, artisans and musicians, and also connects with regional and statewide groups to bring additional programming to the town’s outdoor performance stage and to its unique community center (The School House). The group of volunteers’ mission is “to encourage the arts, build community, and share our unique town through free, public events.” For more information, see the group Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/pages/Silver-City-Arts/618872294885649
KNVC is an independent, noncommercial community radio station mandated to engage, inform and entertain our audience, a vector of communication between the citizen and the larger community.
We strive to reflect the diversity of the local and world community and to provide an outlet for individuals, groups, issues and music that have been overlooked by other media.
The station seeks to grow the listening audience through the excellence and relevance of its programming.
Carson City Classic Cinema Club
The Carson City Classic Cinema Club (C5) was formed in July 2014, with dual purposes. It seemed like a good idea to get like-minded fans of classic films (released prior to 1970) together to enjoy classic films in a theater setting. These screenings, through admissions, club memberships, and raffles, were designed as monthly mini-fundraisers to finance our larger mission of providing education, opportunity, tools and supplies to local youth, encouraging them to create the future of their dreams.
